Fredericton Region Solid Waste handles all sorts of materials at its facility, but some require more specialized care than others. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) needs to handled and treated in much different way than recyclables and garbage.
FRSW accepts HHW twice a week – Wednesday from 7:30AM to 4:00PM and Saturday 7:30AM to 3:00PM – and works with other companies to ensure the safe disposal and, in some cases, recycling, of the hazardous materials. In addition to the twice weekly schedule, FRSW will host three HHW days in various communities throughout the year.
Several products can be classified as HHW. Some signs to look for when identifying HHW include symbols indicating the product is corrosive, toxic, reactive or flammable or the words – Danger, Poison, Caution and Warning.
